Start-ups and Scale-ups: How do you find a lawyer you love? ❤️ 
 
I’ve worked for large organizations like the National Football League (NFL) and Red Bull Media House, and a scale-up, and a startup.

Large, established organizations require a different kind of lawyer than a start-up or scale-up.
 
So, what traits should you look for when hiring your first legal counsel and team at a start-up or scale-up? 
 
I’ve come up with 5 traits to look for:
 
✅ Generalist
✅ Initiative
✅ Sound Judgement
✅ Curiosity 
✅ Empathy

*I make a distinction between values and abilities, and skills.
A person's values and abilities are unlikely to change. But skills can be acquired in a short amount of time.
